Crystal Meanings
I love how different cultures and religions find meaning in natural crystals. While there is no scientific proof to support the mystical claims that seem to go hand in hand with crystals and those that love being surrounded in them, there does seem to be a lingering connection to many beliefs regarding the effects crystals have on our surroundings.

One of my favorite resources for crystals is The Book of Stones (available on Amazon here if you are interested). The following crystals are some of the ones I use frequently in my designs. Feel free to take what you will from the below descriptions, and see if the meanings behind your favorite crystals make sense as to why you are drawn to them.
Amethyst
Amethyst is a wonderful, meditative stone that can help one identify the root causes behind behaviors, habits and emotional patterns. It can clear one's energy field of negative influences and attachments. It is advised to clear the energies of one's amethyst pieces from time to time.
Blue Apatite
Blue Apatite is stimulating to the mind and can enhance general mental functions and clarity. Used in the dream state it allows one to find creative solutions to seemingly unsolvable problems. It uplifts the spirit and lends a positive outlook and a hopeful attitude.
Black Tourmaline
Black Tourmaline has the ability to transmute and purify negative energy, turning it into usable energy. These crystals are recommended for ridding oneself of negative thoughts, anxieties, anger, and ideas of unworthiness. Black tourmaline can provide high levels of purification.
Blue Kyanite
Blue Kyanite is a stone of connection, of building bridges between disparate aspects of an experience. Its powerful energy creates pathways of energy where before there were none. Kyanite can assist in negotiations, arbitration and other forms of communication between disharmonious people.
Citrine
Citrine opens the inner doors to increased clarity of thought, enhanced creativity and magnified powers of will and manifestation. It enables one to be assertive and outgoing. This stone helps to lighten dark thoughts and brings optimism, playfulness and happiness into one's energy systems. Citrine gives one a second wind to face difficult situations.
Danburite
Danburite is an excellent stone for anyone who wants to release stress and worry. It soothes the heart and sends the message that all is well. Danburite has a way of calming down the mind chatter that can so easily make an insomniac of anyone who has a busy life.
Rhodolite Garnet
Rhodolite Garnet reflects the light of the heart and helps one receive abundance on an emotional level. It alleviates feelings of inadequacy or unworthiness that may block one's ability to receive love and abundance. Rhodolite encourages self-love and self-respect.
Green Tourmaline
Green Tourmaline centers the energies of the heart chakra. It brings an invigorating energy of growth and expansion to the emotional body. It is useful in countering fear of change, or the over-regulation of one's life and habits. Green tourmaline helps calm the nervous system and emotions.
Labradorite
Labradorite is a stone of strength and the unity behind apparent duality. It is a gemstone of adventure, for it offers one the chance to embark on upon a multitude of voyages of self-discovery. Labradorite protects and strengthens the energies within, preventing others from tapping into your personal energy and draining you.
Moonstone
Moonstone is the talisman for the inward journey, ad meditation with it can take one deep into the self. In it's reflected light we can project and therefor observe the hidden truths that reside in the depths of ourselves. The frequency of moonstone encourages us to pay attention to the cycles of our lives.
Opal
White Precious Opal will bring to the surface of one's consciousness whatever emotional patterns need to be cleared. This can sometimes create a period of intense emotional sensitivity, but once this initial period of cleansing is complete, one can become more postive and loving.
Peacock Ore
Peacock Ore is a stone of happiness and joy, it is said to turn you in positive directions, and help channel happiness to others. It is said to encourage an understanding that there is nothing wrong in any aspect of your life, but it is all down to your perception of it, everything is for purposeful good.
Pyrite
Pyrite encourages one to overcome fears and take action. It enhances willpower, assisting one in overcoming bad habits and establishing new patterns of health and positive energy. Pyrite can give one the courage to banish negative influences from one's life.
Quartz
Clear Quartz encourages clarity on all levels. It acts to stimulate and open all chakras and energy pathways in the body, allowing for a more enlightened and expansive auric field. Clear Quartz can be used to amplify the energies of other stones.
Rose Quartz
Rose Quartz is the quintessential stone of love. It is calming for the mind, assisting one in releasing worry, fear, anxiety and past emotional trauma. It clears the emotional body of ego-driven patterns and can help one feel more open to receiving and sharing love, compassion and kindness.
Smokey Quartz
Like the smoke of a sage bundle, the energy of Smokey Quartz cleanses and clears the aura and energetic fields. It can help one feel more engaged in the world and capable of creating or changing one's reality. Smokey Quartz is one of the premier grounding stones.
Spirit Quartz
Spirit Quartz is an unusual quartz that has many very small crystals growing on a central stone. Each tiny crystal radiates energy with all of these little crystals working in harmony to radiate a very strong vibration.
Tibetan Quartz
Tibetan Quartz aids in moving out of attachment to the emotions. It assists one in practicing non-attachment and non-resistance. Tibetan Quartz brings to the aura an energy like a flashlight in the dark.
