You guys know by now how much I love discovering what talent is around in Las Vegas, especially when that talent has a vibe that is perfect for a collaboration on a photoshoot project!
Meet Flor de Liz Guior, recent fashion school graduate and the mastermind who created the wardrobe for the fall 2018 photoshoot *Collection launching 9.15.18.
In anticipation of the launch party, I wanted to share a bit on her story with you.
I first became aware of Flor de Liz with her feature in Avant Garde Magazine. I had worked with them in the past, and love how they source out new and exciting designers. I immediately felt like the

1. Tell me a little about yourself:
I’m a 24-year-old Mexican-American Fashion Designer who just earned her B.A. degree in Fashion Design. I was born in Los Angeles, CA, but moved to Las Vegas, NV when I was eight. I’ve been happily married to the love of my life, Jack

2. What inspired you to head for a career in fashion design?
For as long as I can remember, there have always been fashion influences all around me. From both of my grandmothers knowing how to sew and knit, my mother taking me to the clothing factory in Los Angeles where she worked, and my aunts

3. Three words to describe your brand, and what it means to you.
Luxurious, grunge, and chic. These words describe my brands aesthetic and quality. When we officially open our studio, we will offer personable customer service and design custom dresses to meet our client’s needs and budget. The brand has complementary elements, where dark meets light, with our grunge and chic style. It’s unique and not often combined, but we’d like to think our brand is different and love showing that.

4. Who is your ideal client?
She’s the type of woman who isn’t afraid to express herself. She feels empowered

5. What has been your biggest challenge since starting in this field?
Definitely trusting myself to take the leap and having others believe in my business. Many people see that a lot of people are trying to become the next Fashion Designer, so they immediately lose interest in you. Without a chance, you have to find a way to prove to everyone that you’re different and that you actually feel passionate about what you do. I plan on showing everyone through social media and being transparent with what I do. I want everyone to know my gains and losses, and know the truth of who makes their clothing.
6. What has been your biggest win since you began?
Being able to open up my studio here in Las Vegas. It was so stressful and very time consuming, especially because I’m just following a gut feeling of mine. I can’t quite explain it, but I know that everything is going to work out in my favor and my business is going to grow successfully. After landing our space, doors have been opening left and right. Everyone takes our business much more seriously, so it’s definitely a great feeling of accomplishment.
7. Who is your support and motivation as you begin this journey?
My family, very close friends, our future kids, and especially my husband. Everyone has supported me beyond imagination. I couldn’t feel more blessed than I already do. From start to finish, they have all played a vital role in helping develop this business. From staying long after our regular business hours to lifting heavy machinery upstairs, they are all my rock. They all give me honest feedback and push for my growth. At this point in the game, I have no intention of being mediocre and wasting everyone’s time. I want to show our future kids that anything you set your mind to is possible.
8. What designers inspire you?
Alexander McQueen, Christian Dior, Dolce & Gabbana, and Michael Costello, specifically in that order, haha. McQueen for the darkness and expressive clothing, Dior for their timeless designs, D&G for their heavy embellishments and saturated colors, and Costello for his elegant designs. These designers all go back to the three words that describe what Flor de Liz Guior is.
9. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I see myself expanding the business alongside my husband, and having our first child for our soon-to-be old dogs to meet. We plan to open retail stores across Las Vegas, be featured in popular fashion magazines and do seasonal runways. Honestly, at this point, we can only go up. Thank you for having me, this was fun, aha!
